The Commission is now ready to approve individual homeowner connections which approval can be received by carrying out the following steps: 1. Obtain an Application for Service Connection from the Town Hall. Applications are available either here (requires the [ http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html ]Adobe Acrobat Reader), at the Tax Collector’s office in Town Hall, or by calling the Selectmen’s office at (413) 298-4714. 2. Fill out the application with the assistance of your contractor and/or plumber, providing us with details of how you propose to connect to the sewer. In some cases, if the connection is complicated, you may need the assistance of an engineer. 3. Bring (or mail) the completed application, together with an Application Fee of $100.00 to the Tax Collector’s office at the Town Hall, P.O. Box 417, Stockbridge, MA 01262. 4. The application will be reviewed by the Sewer Department personnel. If everything is in order, they will sign off on the connection and we will approve the application. 5. You will then be notified of the approval and asked to contact the Sewer Department when your contractor is ready to install the connection. Upon receipt by the Tax Collector of a Sewer Connection Fee in the amount of $450.00 per bedroom, (number of bedrooms as listed on the Board of Assessors records) the Sewer Department will set up an appointment to inspect and approve the actual connection. At this point you may begin discharging sewage into the system. For those of you needing sewer grinder pumps, only contractors who have taken an approved training course from the Town will be allowed to install the pumps. A list of approved contractors is available either here (requires the [ http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html ]Adobe Acrobat Reader) or by calling the Selectmen’s office at (413) 298-4714. As you may know, the Town has secured a guaranteed price from a supplier of the required grinder pump, in the amount of $2,450.00, plus sales tax of $122.50 for a total of $2,572.50. This price is for model number 2010-93 and is good until July 31, 2005. Orders for these pumps may be made by calling F.R. Mahony & Associates, 273 Weymouth Street, Rockland, MA, at 1-800-791-6132 and asking for either Ellen at Ext. 31 or Tracey at Ext.29. You are not required to purchase the pump from this vendor, but we believe it is a competitive price. For those residents in Glendale and Goodrich, work is progressing in your neighborhoods, but we will not be ready for connections there until next Spring or Summer. We are hopeful that all sewer lines will be installed in the road by this December, weather permitting. However, the pump stations in each of those areas will likely not be ready until next year. If you have any questions, either about the project’s schedule, or the process to connect to the sewer, please feel free to call our project consultant, Joseph Kellogg at 413/637-5477. Sincerely, Stockbridge Sewer and Water Commission Donald Schneyer Thomas Schuler Peter Socha
