Austin Riggs donated $15,000 in lieu of taxes. Deb announced the creation of the plain School Task Force Committee which was created from concerns made at the Annual Town Meeting. Members of the Task Force are: the Selectmen, David McCarthy, Charles Gillette, John Spencer, Eva Sheridan, Laurie Norton-Moffatt and Jim McMenamy from the Finance Committee and Joe Kellogg as consultant. A thank you was extended to everyone who participated in the Memorial Day Parade especially the veterans. The Chime Tower was also rededicated that day. Cris opened the Sheldon and Robin Birnhak 11 Mahkeenac Road public hearing by reading the legal notice. The Birnhaks wish to construct a master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, a bedroom and bathroom on the upper level and extend the existing deck approximately 52 square feet. The ratio of combined floor area of building will be 4.5% more or 9.8% coverage well under the 20% limit. The property is in an R-2 zone and lacks acreage, frontage and infringes on the north side yard setback. Application is made under 6.1.2. George stated that the Conservation Commission has had a site visit at the location and have continued their hearing until their next meeting. Architect Pam Sandler explained the project. The Birnhak’s needs have changed over the years, the family has grown and more time is spent here by the family, and the Birnhaks wish to have their bedroom on the ground floor. The original building was built in the late 40’s as an Ice House and in the 80’s a few changes were made. The present footprint is 1930 square feet and the new square footage will be 3560. Pam stated that a frost wall will be installed. The Selectmen voted to continue the hearing until June 21, so to receive a recommendation from the Planning Board and pending approval from the Conservation Commission. Craig Berger-Alternate to Berkshire Regional Planning Commission and Brian Boeshin, Town Representative from the BRPC came to discuss the Comprehensive Plan which addresses Stockbridge’s housing, open space, transportation and economic development Brian presented a mission statement outlining each section. He praised Stockbridge on the affordable housing project “Pine Woods”. Economic Development area reviewed was the Stockbridge Industrial Park. The conclusion was that the area is under utilized. The Open Space is being updated by Sally Underwood-Miller, Chairman of the Conservation Commission and Cathy Plakun, along with others. The transportation portion was not discussed as a consultant had made the report and had just finished it late in the day. It was decided that the company-Clough, Harbour, and Associates LLP would come before the Selectmen at their next meeting on June 21 with a presentation. Also taken under advisement was the document regarding the “Official Map” of the Town. The Selectmen will review this. Deb made a motion to adjourn at 8:00 p.m. George seconded the motion.
