Mon, Apr 22, 2002 2:41 PM From: Brett Tartaglino To: StockbridgeMA_SelMin Subject: 2002-01-07 January 7, 2002 Present: Cris Irsfeld, Deb McMenamy, Martin Terrien, Bob Bugley, Bob-CTSB, and Jorja Marsden Bob Bugley representing the Sewer and Water Commissioners, came to ask for permission to harvest the forest around Lake Averic. A licensed forester will be harvesting the mature trees, which will be sold for wood. The traffic will be restricted to use only entrance and exiting from Route 102. The Selectmen unanimous approved the maintenance. The Town of Stockbridge has just been notified that we have received an $8.7 million dollar loan with a 2% interest for the sewer expansion. The Selectmen told Mr. Bugley that he and all of the Commissioners have worked very hard. It is a thankless job. Cris also mentioned that the High School is looking to tie into water and sewer in Stockbridge. Also read was a letter from the United Stated Environmental Protection Agency congratulating the Town of Stockbridge and the Stockbridge Wastewater Treatment Facility for being selected a 2001 EPA Regional Wastewater Treatment Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Excellence Award winner. Cris Irsfeld began a discussion regarding the proposed Charter School in South Berkshire. All towns from Pittsfield down stand to lose enrollment. The first year the town would be reimbursed 100%, then 60, 40 and the taxpayers still have to pay for the public schools. If you have any questions please call Danny Brown, superintendent. The Town of Stockbridge has an approved Community Development Planning Program contract worth $30,000 with Berkshire Regional Planning. The Program is divided into four catogories-1. Affordable Housing which is headed by William Selke, 2. Open Space, 3. Transportation and 4. Economic. Brian Hoskeer, Barrington Monuments, has been cleaning and repairing the stones in the cemetery beginning with the oldest section. The Selectmen hope to keep going with this project. After this is done, possibly the Town could replicate the oldest stones so as not to loose the printing on the stones. Cris apologized to Martin for blaming him for taking his hat. The apology was accepted. A motion to close the meeting was made by Deb. A second received from Martin. The vote was unanimous. The meeting closed at 7:35 p.m. A true copy, ATTEST:
