The following appointments were made: Council on Aging – Patricia Tarrant, Joan Selva and Paula Almgren Alternate to BRPC-Craig Berger A letter was read from Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency congratulating Arthur Dutil and his committee for achieving Start-Up Certification for the Stockbridge Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) on May 22, 2003. A letter read from Executive Office of Public Safety (Programs Division) to Chief Richard Wilcox that the Berkshire Law Enforcement Council has been granted $205,690 under the FFY2003 Homeland Security Grant Program. The funds are being provided through the US Dept. of Homeland Security, Office for Domestic Preparedness. The purpose is to purchase specialized equipment to enhance the capability of state and local agencies to prevent and respond to incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive weapons. Cris gave a history of years of fighting not to have an interchange in Stockbridge. The latest quest has been won. Stockbridge made it through the coarse screening and the fine screening of the Berkshire Transportation review that happens every three years, however when the final version was released today, we were not on it. Cris read a letter to J. Raymond Miyares, Town Counsel from the Massachusetts Turnpike. The letter read: “Massachusetts Turnpike Chairman Matthew Amorello has asked me to contact you regarding your recent correspondence to Berkshire Regional Planning Commission Executive Director Nathanial Karns. Your letter made reference to Chairman Amorello’s stated opposition to the construction of a new Turnpike interchange in Stockbridge, a position he took as commissioner of the Massachusetts Highway Department. Please be advised that Chairman Amorello, in his new capacity as Chairman of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, continues to oppose the construction of a new interchange in Stockbridge. Please feel free to send a copy of this correspondence to Executive Director Karns if you think it would be helpful.” The letter was signed by Michael W. Swanson, PE, Chief of Operations/Chief Engineer of Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. A big thank you was extended to the Congregational Church for letting us hold the second homeowners meeting there. George stated that from the meeting a request was asked about the testing of the beaches. This weekly testing will now be on the web site under Parks and Recreation. Also, a group of people from the Bowl Association will be working on the geese situation over the winter. George made a motion to adjourn at 7:14 p.m. A second was received from Deb. The vote to adjourn was unanimous. A true copy, ATTEST:
