Details Link Name: New Document Description: Subject/Title: 2003-04-28 Subtitle: Keywords: Review on: [ ] Default to Printable Version April 28, 2003 Present: Cris Irsfeld, Deb McMenamy, George Shippey, Heather Viola-Camera, Kristen Broucher-Record and Jorja Marsden A letter was received on April 25, 2003 from Metro Tower regarding 15 West Stockbridge that stated that after meeting with the Conservation Commission whose decision was to deny the application. Metro Tower is withdrawing its application without prejudice from the Board of Selectmen. Also requesting to withdraw without prejudice was T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint. A motion was made to allow the companies to withdrawn without prejudice by Deb. A second was received from George. The vote was unanimous. Simon Brighenti, representing T-Mobile, stated that due to an unexpected death in the family he was unable to meet with the Planning Board on April 22. A representative was to come however that person became ill. The Planning Board will see Mr. Brighenti at their meeting on Tuesday, May 6. Rather than ask for another set of extensions, Deb made a motion to meet at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8. A second was received from George and the vote to continue until May 8 was unanimous. Cris stated that we were not on the air after Ira died and wanted to state in public how much we miss and appreciated him. Ira besides being the treasurer was also on the Zoning Board of Appeals. We have appointed Karen Williams as Treasurer for 13 months until next year’s elections. Karen worked for Boyd Converting, Williams Paving and was the past chairman of Parks and Recreation. Bill Harris, Associate member of the ZBA, will move up to a full member of the Commission. Thomas Schuler will become an Associate member of the ZBA. Peter Socha was appointed a member of the Water and Sewer Commission. Peter’s name will not appear on the ballot for the election on May 19; however everyone was encouraged to write his name in if they chose to. George read a letter from Ed Lavallee, Administrator of the Newport Police Department. On April 5, 2003, Chief Wilcox responded to a medical emergency at the Red Lion Inn. A friend of Mr. Lavallee’s experienced a diabetic shock. Mr. Lavallee stated that the Chief’s expedient and effective response provided much needed emergency treatment. He thanked the Chief for his professionalism, and courteous and caring service. Cris stated that the Selectmen just love reading the praises for the Town and its employees. Cris publicly thanked the Marians for a terrific job well done on Mercy Sunday especially with all the attention regarding the Sars virus. The officials worked with Peter Kolodziej of Tri-Town Health. It was a very sensitive job. Deb went to the event. Arthur Dutil did a fine job of organizing the event. George stated that the situation was dealt with extreme professionalism. The Annual Town Meeting on Monday, May 19, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. will be at the Berkshire Theatre Festival at 83 East Main Street as we cannot use the upstairs in Town Hall it is not handicapped assessable. Voting will take place on the 19th at Town Hall from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Deb announced that the annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 12:00 noon this year. The parade route will be the same. A pot luck picnic with hot dogs and soda provided will take place after the program on the Town Green. With no other business the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. A true copy, ATTEST:
