Details Link Name: Minutes Description: Subject/Title: November 22, 2005 Subtitle: Keywords: Review on: [ ] Default to Printable Version CONSERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2005 PRESENT: Sally Underwood-Miller, George Shippey, Joseph DeGiorgis Don Deno, Cathy Plakun ABSENT: John Hart, Stephen Shatz Call Meeting to Order/Adopt Minutes – Member Deno made a motion to adopt the Minutes as corrected, seconded by member DeGiorgis and all voted in favor. Member Shippey made a motion to rescind the motion of the Commissions action of the October 25, 2005 for the removal of all structures on the Prentice and Ann Pilot property. The motion was seconded by member DeGiorgis and all voted in favor. Prentice and Ann Pilot, 34 Lake Drive – NOI – Rick Bosche of Berkshire Remodeling appeared on behalf of the applicants who seek the approval of the completion of a landing and step from the house with a walkway with pressure treated ties to hold gravel in that was working its way down towards the yard. They will cover the ties with soil and put grass there so it doesn’t go any further. They have since put in gravel. The Chairman reported that there was erosion, though not significant, coming off the driveway and washes through the driveway and continues down through the lawn. The work that was done was within 50 ft. of the lake. Mr. Bosche stated that he would fill it in with something that wouldn’t wash away such as another tie cut at an angle bedded down into the ground. The applicants have altered the vegetation. Member Deno made the recommended that they put a tie on the top of the existing tie with a swale along the side of it. Mr. Bosche amended the NOI to state erosion measures. Member Shippey made a motion to close the hearing on the revised plan, seconded by member Deno and all voted in favor. The Commission signed the Order of Conditions and the secretary will process. Alice Kandell, 10 & 12 Mahkeenac Shores Rd. – RDA Continuance – Marshal White of White Engineering, Inc. appeared on behalf of the applicant who is proposing to install a water line from the Fechter property on Mahkeenac Terrace to her properties on Mahkeenac Shores Rd. M. White stated that they would put in a well within 100 ft. of the buffer zone. The property is already landscaped. They will use PVC as a sleeve. The Board of Health will approve the project after December 9, 2005. M. White will fax to the Commission the easement and mail the hard copy thereafter. Member Shippey made a motion to close the hearing pending receipt of the easement agreement, seconded by member DeGiorgis and all voted in favor. Joan Nimmo, 42 Lake Drive – NOI Continuance – Marshall White of White Engineering, Inc. appeared on behalf of the applicant who proposes to construct a single-family residence on her property. He stated the well for the property will be near the green area on the plan. M. White submitted a revised plan for the project. There will be no piers for the foot bridge or a walking path. M. White addressed all of DEP’s concerns. The Commission was in agreement with relocation of the garage. Member Deno made motion to close the hearing with the acceptance of the revised plan. Member DeGiorgis seconded the motion and all voted in favor. I Michael Goodman, 18 Ice Glen Rd. – RDA – Member DeGiorgis recused himself from the hearing as he is the landscape architect for the applicant. Michael Kulig of Berkshire Engineering appeared on behalf of the applicant who proposes to add a two-car garage and patio to his house. A new screened porch area will be attached to the garage with crushed stone around it. The septic system is greater than 50 ft. from the wetland and should receive approval from Tri-Town Health Dept. The porch is not on piers. The Chairman and member Shippey are not comfortable with the screened porch. The Commission gave approval for the applicant to start the concrete work for the barn. The Commission signed a negative jurisdictional for the foundation repairs to the existing structure. The hearing was continued to the next meeting. The Commissioned a Certificate of Compliance for the Kandell property on Mahkeenac Shores Rd. and the Dordick property on Ice Glen Rd. and an Order of Conditions for the Waller property on Goodrich St. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Denise A.
