Stockbridge – The Town of Stockbridge has announced the mailing of first half tax bills for the 2005 fiscal year which will be due on or before January 20, 2005. Enclosed with the bills is an insert with important information regarding Stockbridge taxes and fees. Two of the notices refer to Tax aid for low income elderly or disabled resident taxpayers and acceptance of on line payments. The Town’s newly adopted by-law provides aid to qualifying elderly and disabled taxpayers of low income. The program, established in 2003, was funded by voluntary taxpayer donations and will be administered by an appointed committee which will evaluate applications and distribute aid up to 50% or $1000 of a qualifying taxpayer’s property tax bill. Applications are available at Town Hall and assistance in filling out the application is available. Taxpayers can now pay their taxes or utility bills online at www.townofstockbridge.com. This new payment method serves to accommodate those Stockbridge taxpayers and residents who want the convenience of paying their taxes and fees online, anytime day or night. The process to pay online is simple: with your bill and checkbook in hand, 1) Go to: www.townofstockbridge.com; 2) Click on the “Online Bill Payment” Button; 3) Read the instruction document 4) Click on the “Take me to Payment Center” and Complete each screen to process your payment.
